Bunny is Alexis Divine’s dog who can communicate with human by using buttons. Researchers at Comparative Cognition Lab at UC San Diego are now trying to find out if non-humans can use langugage to communicate after saw Bunny’s videos.

They began a project to study aniamls who are learning to use the buttons with over 700 participants. They then will use those data to understand different aspects of animal cognition and communication. For example, they tried to find out if animals have the senses of temporal and spatail displacement, and the ability to make observations as well of form narratives.

In Bunny’s videos, there are buttons related to time. There is still not enough researches to show how dogs conceptualise time. It is still unclear if Bunny really understand the buttons’ meanings or it’s just confirmation bias when she pressed random buttons.
